A village built on fruit and science
East Malling is a village first. Its old High Street around St James the Great church is a conservation area, and the houses stretch south from the A20 towards the orchards. Those orchards are the reason the name is known around the world: East Malling is home to the fruit research station now run as NIAB East Malling, with laboratories, glasshouses and offices set among the trees. Add The Malling School, St James primary, the railway station and the village pubs and small businesses, and you have a place with a surprising mix of buildings for its size.
Honest about what is here
East Malling is not a business district and we will not pretend it is. Most commercial premises in the village are small: a shop, a pub, a church hall, a practice or an office in a converted building. The bigger sites are the schools and the research station. That suits us well, because our contracts start from four hours a week and a small building gets the same written schedule and supervisor checks as a large one.
Where we fit in East Malling
Schools
Classrooms, halls, corridors and toilets cleaned after the school day. Cleaners in schools have enhanced DBS checks. More on our school cleaning page.
Offices and research buildings
Office areas, meeting rooms, kitchens and washrooms cleaned to your site rules, by cleaners who have signed a confidentiality agreement.
Churches and halls
Village churches and halls see weddings, groups and clubs. Our church cleaning keeps them ready week to week.
Pubs
Bars, toilets and dining areas cleaned in the morning before you open. See our pub cleaning page.
Sites with rules of their own
Schools and research buildings come with sign in procedures, restricted rooms and areas a cleaner must never touch. We put all of that in writing. Your cleaning schedule says what is cleaned, when, and what is off limits. A supervisor is on site for the first clean to go through it with your cleaner and your contact, and a risk assessment in line with HSE guidance is done before we start.
The same people, every time
We employ our own cleaners and train them in house. They are vetted by us, wear our uniform and are fully insured. We never use agency staff or subcontractors. When someone is off sick or on holiday we arrange cover, and regular supervisor inspections make sure the standard holds. A comments book on site lets your staff tell us anything that needs attention.
From our base in Chatham
Our office is at the Innovation Centre in Chatham. East Malling sits just west of Maidstone, in the patch our managers already travel, and those managers roll up their sleeves and clean too.
East Malling questions
When would you clean a school?
After the school day finishes, in the evening, or at weekends. Holiday periods can be planned in with you.
Can you clean a small church hall?
Yes, on a regular contract of at least four hours a week.
Do you offer one off cleans for events?
No. We only do regular contract cleaning, which keeps the same cleaner in your building.
