Orpington has a classic town centre and a hardworking industrial side, and both need cleaning in very different ways. Up the hill is the High Street and The Walnuts, with shops, cafés, pubs, a leisure centre and a cinema, plus a busy station that sends commuters into London every morning. Down in the Cray Valley, Cray Avenue and the streets around St Mary Cray are lined with warehouses, trade counters, workshops and the big retail units of Nugent Shopping Park.
A cleaner who does a good job on one is not automatically any good on the other. We do both.
Units along the Cray Valley see deliveries, forklifts, site boots and dust all day. What matters here is safety and welfare: walkways and loading areas kept clear of grime, staff canteens and kitchens kept hygienic, and changing rooms and toilets that people are happy to use. Our warehouse cleaning covers all of that on a written schedule, and where you build or assemble things on site, our factory cleaning works around production.
Before any cleaner starts, we carry out a risk assessment in line with HSE guidance, so they know where the racking, vehicles and hazards are.
Retail is all about first impressions. Our shop cleaning happens before the doors open, so entrance floors, glass, counters and staff areas look sharp from the first customer to the last. The professional offices, estate agents and clinics around the town centre get the same early or late cleans, so the working day carries on uninterrupted.
Every cleaner is our own employee, vetted by us, trained in house, in uniform and signed up to a confidentiality agreement.
When someone is off sick or on holiday, we sort the replacement. You do not get a phone call asking you to manage without.
A supervisor is on site for your first clean, going through the written schedule with your cleaner room by room.
Regular supervisor inspections and a comments book on site stop small problems turning into big ones.
Kent Cleaning Solutions is owned and run by a family, and our managers still do hands on cleaning. We came to Kent from London in 2010 and Orpington sits right where those two worlds meet. We clean commercial buildings on regular contracts only, from four hours a week, and regular customers can add window cleaning too.
Around your shifts. We clean early in the morning, in the evening and at weekends, and the schedule is agreed with you before we start.
Yes. We have experience of TUPE transfers and will make the move as smooth as possible for everyone.
